CLARET, France - November 16th, 2009 - NETIA today announced that Radio Tunisienne Chaine Internationale ( RTCI) has installed its Radio-Assist digital audio software to streamline the broadcast workflow, from acquisition through playout, for its international radio programming. The end-to-end NETIA solution allows staff at RTCI to record, edit, or prepare playlists from within a single application.
" Radio-Assist is a comprehensive broadcast system that provides all the functionality we need in a smart, highly automated workflow that speeds time-to-air," said Marouane GALLAH, Technical Director of Radio Tunisienne Chaine Internationale. " The software suite ensures efficient handling and management of content, simplifying our access to media, and providing staff the flexibility in creating radio programming and distribution to multiple platforms."
Radio Tunisienne Chaine Internationale is using a Radio-Assist system built on two servers and equipped with NETIA's DBShare to ensure the security and integrity of stored media. DBShare ensures the stability of database contents, synchronizing all databases automatically, and thus providing automatic, transparent redundancy and automatic database restoration, in the event of any incident.
The broadcaster outfitted two on-air studios with NETIA's Air-DDO broadcast module and added a third station to support automatic playout of night-time programming. The Air-DDO graphical user interface displays the broadcast channel along with help and preparation tools for cueing, on-air monitoring, playlist modification, recording, and production. Directly linked to the scheduling workstations, Air-DDO keeps track of the latest changes made to the playlist in real time and automatically displays the refreshed playlist data.
The Radio-Assist installation includes two production workstations dedicated to acquisition and editing and a second workstation for planning and preparation of playlists with NETIA's Grid Editor and Feder-All . Three additional workstations support music scheduling, advertising scheduling, and recording of phone inserts. The last workstation allows journalists to call in and trigger recording using a security code. Sound is automatically stored to the database.
Radio Tunisienne Chaine Internationale has also installed Radio-Assist workstations for logging, streaming, and Internet broadcasting using NETIA's Air-Push and dispatcher . Air-Push automatically supplies data related to the item on air. For each item broadcast, Air-Push sends its metadata (text, DAB, HTML page, etc.) to a Web or DAB server, or straight onto the network. NETIA's Dispatcher is a highly powerful automation system for converting sound files and exporting them directly from the Radio-Assist database according to any number of profiles, each one relating to a conversion format, a target, etc...
CLARET, France - November 24, 2009 - NETIA today announced that its Radio-Assist 8.0 suite of digital audio automation software now interfaces seamlessly with the acclaimed MusicMaster music scheduling system, providing users with a complete and cost-effective turnkey solution for handling music across a radio station. The combined solution allows users to access MusicMaster's library-organization features and sophisticated rules-based playlist generation seamlessly alongside the powerful Radio-Assist 8.0 multimedia workflow management toolset. The MusicMaster playlists are then automatically integrated in Radio Assist 8.0 for playout.
" Both Radio-Assist and MusicMaster are industry-leading solutions that bring powerful functionality to radio broadcasters," said Joseph Knapp, president of A-Ware Software, maker of MusicMaster. " Together, the two solutions feature a level of interaction never before possible. Our intelligent scheduling system gives operators the tools to make better choices about what to play on air and gives the program director more control over playout. Now that this capability is available along with Radio-Assist 8.0, our joint customers can much more efficiently provide their listeners with an engaging broadcast product that can enhance both ratings and revenues."
MusicMaster is the fastest growing system available, generating schedules for radio stations all over the world, as well as for music television networks, satellite broadcasters, and cable television channels, Internet streams, syndicated programs, restaurants, and nightclubs. Thanks to the open architecture of the two systems, MusicMaster can maintain a real-time awareness of content within the NETIA Radio-Assist 8.0 server and apply rules-based intelligence in making playlist selections that enhance the broadcaster's music mix and flow, reduce listener fatigue, and help increase ratings. After playout of a playlist, a report is automatically generated and sent back to Music master for reconciliation.
OnAir Digital, the official distributor for MusicMaster worldwide, has already facilitated installation of the joint solution for a leading radio broadcaster based in France. Because Radio-Assist 8.0 and MusicMaster interface so cleanly and easily, the established global user base for each software product can quickly integrate and adopt the other to realize a single comprehensive solution.
" The unique awareness of the MusicMaster scheduling system makes it easy for Radio-Assist 8.0 users to improve the overall quality of programming and to reach a broader audience more effectively," said Mustapha REZZOUG, Product Director at NETIA. " The interfacing of our companies' products offers exciting potential for greater productivity, simpler operation, and a more compelling broadcast solution. We look forward to further success working with A-Ware as broadcasters continue to take advantage of our powerful product pairing."
The Radio-Assist 8.0 range of digital audio automation software is equipped with a broad range of tools for end-to-end multimedia workflows. This widely deployed software suite extends beyond traditional broadcasting by streamlining the preparation and publication of media, as well as the management of associated metadata and linked media. Radio-Assist 8.0 provides instant access to all types of media, archived or online. Regardless of the storage medium, items can be previewed and restored for repurposing and distribution, both for broadcasting and for multi-platform distribution.

Panasonic Professional Broadcast and IT Systems (PBITS) and GlobeCast, a leading content management and delivery company, have formalized a technology partnership to integrate Panasonic's P2 broadcast workflow and production technology with GlobeCast's Media Sharing Platforms (MSP). The agreement will result in strong compatibility between the technology, software and media asset management platforms that facilitate the seamless exchange of content among broadcast professionals.
This global partnership will drive the development of specialised players and new interfaces between Panasonic's P2-enabled hardware and GlobeCast's software and MSP, allowing major broadcast clients to benefit from a unified technology environment. In the newsgathering field, for example, the product synergy resulting from the companies' agreement will allow P2 camcorder users in the field to ingest footage directly to a GlobeCast distribution platform at the TV studio. Continued development of this technology partnership will enable the GlobeCast MSP to go a step further, reading and extracting the metadata wrapped in a P2 file in order to populate an intelligent database and automatically reference the associated video content. The result will be a streamlined workflow from acquisition through worldwide distribution and archiving.
GlobeCast's Media Sharing Platforms combines the best of the company's unique expertise in core networks, content acquisition, and content delivery with the advanced media asset management software ( Manreo ) and integrated archive manager (Hypercast Warehouse ) offered by its subsidiary NETIA. Designed to simplify the cataloguing, indexing, archiving, accessing, and distribution of media, Manreo helps to maximize productivity gains in asset management and the use of rich media, whether broadcast or repurposed and published to platforms such as Web portals and mobile devices.
Working with Panasonic P2 cameras and the GlobeCast MSP with Manreo software, the camera operator will be able to mark key files and scenes with icons to help production staff back at the station identify crucial scenes, thus saving time in post-production. The camera's ability to send in/out points, playlists, and low-res proxy versions in advance of full-resolution video clips enables managing directors to make the most of available bandwidth, to create rushes or edit decision lists quickly, or to publish video to a catalog with minimal delay.
Welcoming the deal, Jaume Rey, Director of Panasonic PBITS, said, " Eighty percent of broadcasters in Europe who have expressed an interest in migrating to a tapeless solution have selected Panasonic's P2 technology over other alternatives. In pursuing this partnership with a global content management company such as GlobeCast, we will continue to reinforce the value of P2 as a true IT-based solution which eliminates the need for tape and enhances the speed and efficiency of the production process."
Christian Pinon, GlobeCast Chairman and CEO, said: " The integration of Panasonic's innovative P2 technology with the GlobeCast MSP, including NETIA's robust Manreo digital media asset management software, supports a workflow-oriented, end-to-end delivery concept tailored to the specific requirements of broadcasters and production houses. By enabling a high degree of flexibility in managing media across this workflow, our technology partnership simplifies operations, enhances access to and handling of media, and significantly speeds time to air or market."
GlobeCast, a subsidiary of France Telecom, is the leading global provider of content management and worldwide transmission services for professional broadcast delivery.
The company operates a secure global satellite and fibre network to manage and transport 10 million hours of video and other rich media each year, providing ingest, aggregation, transmission and repurposing of content for delivery to direct-to-home satellite platforms; cable, IPTV, mobile and broadband headends; as well as corporate and digital signage networks. GlobeCast's fleet of SNG trucks is deployed globally to support coverage of the biggest news and sporting events each year in SD and HDTV formats.
Borders are non-existent when it comes to GlobeCast's services, thanks to the company's 12 teleports and technical operations centres as well as its 18 offices in Europe, North and Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Australia.

Integration of Manreo Media Asset Management Software Provides Foundation for Efficient Storage, Repurposing, and Multiplatform Delivery of Media.
CLARET, France - July 21, 2009 - NETIA today announced that Réseau France Outre-mer (French Overseas Network, or RFO), a subsidiary of the Group France Television, is installing the company's Manreo media asset management (MAM) solution to simplify file and archive management of content at the broadcaster's Paris headquarters and nine regional production centers. Manreo is being integrated with RFO's acquisition, production, automation, and storage applications to store and enrich audio, video, and still images and subsequently facilitate the publishing of content through various delivery platforms.
" We have a strong and longstanding relationship with NETIA, having successfully deployed the company's Radio-Assist across our operations," said Christian Augereau, technical director at RFO. " As we look to leverage our media assets more effectively and more fully across our broadcast channels and newer distribution outlets, Manreo provides an intelligent solution that engages well with our existing systems. Only NETIA was able to propose a two-tier plan that we could implement - first to enrich and archive digital content and then publish it from the same application and interface."
One of the most advanced television and radio networks in the world, RFO distributes 17 television channels from its head office in Paris to French-speaking territories located tens of thousands of kilometers from one another. The broadcaster's regional production facilities are connected by satellite and ADSL around the clock, thus supporting the exchange of programs and news (both radio and TV) in real time.
RFO already has equipped its radio stations with NETIA's Radio-Assist digital audio software. Now, with the integration of Manreo, RFO will gain increased productivity in the management and use of rich audio and video, which can then be easily repurposed and published to multiple platforms including mobiles devices, IPTV, and Web portals.
Manreo is being installed across RFO in two phases, the first addressing file management and archiving and the second phase will address publishing of media. During the first stage, the software will ingest high-resolution content, generate low-resolution proxies for indexing, leverage its integrated speech-to-text capability to turn dialog into searchable text, and enable browsing of content and access to high-resolution files for editing with the Avid and Apple edit systems at seven different RFO sites.
In the second phase of installation, Manreo will be extended to publish media through its Hypercast Warehouse tool, which can be used to manage audio, video, or images in all file formats (MXF, XDCAM, mpeg 4, mpeg 2, wmv, etc.). Built-in monitoring tools will provide operators with current updates as to the status of asset restoration, transcoding of specific media to the appropriate format, and publishing of content to the target platform.

Also as part of the OpenNet TM Range, NETIA will be highlighting its NodalMaster full-featured software solution for controlling all the routing and processing equipment in a nodal suite, from audio and video program schedules to audio and video tuning equipment, monitoring devices, etc. NodalMaster provides users with a single interface for controlling all this equipment while enabling them to make links or switching from any source to any target.
IP Server Modules:
In the spotlight at the BroadcastAsia 2009 show are NETIA's new IP Recorder and IP Player modules for OpenNet TM. These two new software modules allow OpenNET users to simplify the acquisition and distribution of IP-based content.
The IP Recorder and IP Player modules reduce the complexity of taking SDI video from the camera to editing by eliminating the need for a video server. A simple file server and a facility's existing architecture can instead be leveraged for acquisition and delivery of digital video. The IP Recorder streamlines acquisition of SDI content, accepting the encoded IP stream and delivering media to the file server, where it is available for editing, archiving, and autoindexation. The elimination of the video recorder, video grid, and video encoder reduces overall costs and supports a fast, completely digital workflow with more timely delivery of rushes and replays of live content with delay. A simple computer system can be used for review and quality control.
CLARET, France - March 24, 2009 - NETIA today announced that it will introduce Radio-Assist 8.0 at the 2009 NAB Show. This latest version of the company's popular Radio-Assist suite of digital audio software programs has been enhanced with a range of innovative new tools designed to facilitate smooth end-to-end workflows in the delivery of media via both traditional broadcast channels and multiplatform distribution.
" By automating the process of publishing media and associated metadata, Radio-Assist 8.0 gives content owners and distributors a streamlined means of building multiplatform delivery into their existing workflows," said Christophe Carniel, CEO at NETIA. " The interfacing of Radio-Assis 8.0 with our Manreo media asset management system further simplifies operations for media groups by facilitating the enrichment of metadata and sharing of video, audio, images, and text throughout their operations."
Radio-Assist 8.0 features new planning tools that allow users to prepare publication of media early in the workflow, much as they would create an on-air playlist for over-the-air broadcasts. An automatic publishing engine streamlines publishing of media to the appropriate target while managing metadata and linked media.
Three different types of publishing are available to users. Within Radio-Assist 8.0 a new "Publication" tab allows journalists to publish audio-only content and its metadata; publish audio and associated media, such as video, text, or images; or prepare a group of items for automatic conversion and publishing to an array of destinations, including podcasts, Internet postings, or delivery to mobile devices.
Through integration with NETIA's Manreo media asset management system, Radio-Assist 8.0 also provides users with instant access to all types of media, whether archived or online. As a result, media ranging from audio and video to images and text is available for immediate review and can subsequently be restored for repurposing and delivery to broadcast and/or broadband/mobile channels.
NETIA's Radio-Assist 8.0 suite of digital audio software programs covers each part of the production and broadcast workflow, allowing users to record, edit, or prepare a playlist. In addition to new browse and publishing tools for full multimedia functionality, the software features tools for acquisition, sound-file editing, commercial and music production, newsroom systems, scheduling, multicasting, administration, and more.
CLARET, France - Feb. 9, 2009 - NETIA today announced that its business in the Middle East broadcast market has grown significantly over the past year through key installations of the company's television and radio content management solutions. Among these high-profile projects is an installation for the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Culture and Information ( MOCI), awarded to the Stesa-Thomson consortium.
NETIA played a key role in this project, not only providing MOCI with the tools necessary to restore, digitize, and preserve audiovisual media of cultural and historical importance, but also ensuring the interoperability of media management systems across this complex installation. To support this installation in Riyadh, NETIA, through the Stesa-Thomson consortium, interfaced its system with a full backup storage system provided by EMC2 in Jeddah. The archives will include 200,000 analog tapes from Riyadh Radio, 290,000 analog tapes from Jeddah Radio, and nearly 7,000 analog tapes from Dammam. To accommodate this volume of material, MOCI will use 24 ingest systems.
Preservation of national archives is a primary concern of MOCI, and the equipment supplied by NETIA provides the high level of quality MOCI desired for preserving and digitizing audio assets. The equipment and process proposed by the Stesa-Thomson consortium, including NETIA, have received the quality certification of INA (Institut National de l'Audiovisuel), a world leader in the archiving, digitization, and safeguard of audiovisual assets.
CLARET, France - Feb. 25, 2009 - NETIA today announced that the company's business in the Middle East broadcast market has grown significantly over the past year, with key installations of the company's television and radio content management solutions. Among these high-profile projects is an installation for Radio Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's national radio station.
NETIA, together with its local partner Jamal Jaroudi Group, completed the second phase of this project in a full installation incorporating 15 on-air and recording studios, along with extra studios that serve as backup in the case of an emergency; a total of 65 editing workstations; and six archiving workstations. The interface for the complete Radio-Assist system at Radio Riyadh is in full Arabic.
This instance of a Radio-Assist installation features NETIA's Media Management , which handles the circulation of data (metadata and sound data) to ensure that files are always available at the right place, at the right time, for different activities, such as production, broadcast, and archiving. Radio Riyadh's archives rely on NETIA's Archive software, which directs media storage on SAN hard disks.
NETIA guarantees the reliability of Radio Riyadh's archives with its DB-Share software, which ensures systematic synchronous redundancy of all the metadata the system produces and protects the consistency of database content. Because databases are automatically synchronized, either may serve as a backup in the event of a fault. The system is unusual in that its stored audio assets contain embedded metadata, rather than maintaining that information in a separate file. For staff at the station, this approach allows easy retrieval of data SAN-based archives.
