By interfacing with NETIA's Media Asset Management system, Radio-Assist 8 responds efficiently to the needs of media groups having to manage and share video, audio, images, and text throughout their entities.
Radio-Assist 8 provides instant access to all types of media, archived or online. Regardless of the storage medium, items can be previewed and restored for repurposing and distribution, both for broadcasting and for multiplatform distribution.

CLARET, France - April 7, 2010 - NETIA today announced that it has paired its NETIA Workflow Engine with its Radio-AssistTM 8 suite of digital audio automation software to bring users even greater efficiencies and functionality across key broadcast workflow processes. Designed to facilitate exchanges between all applications in a broadcast environment, NETIA Workflow Engine gives users one graphical interface through which to automate processes involving Radio-Assist 8 and any third-party application.
NETIA Workflow Engine makes it easy for media companies to visualize, create, and execute their own workflows. When deployed in conjunction with Radio-Assist 8, it enables users to tap into greater functionality through improved automation of key processes," said Mustapha Rezzoug, NETIA's director of products. "Administrators can now simply rely on NETIA Workflow Engine to provide easy workflow automation setup, execution, and status monitoring. The powerful combination of NETIA Workflow Engine and Radio-Assist 8 allows media companies to do more with audio, video, text, and images - and to do so with greater efficiency, accuracy, and flexibility."
Equipped with a broad range of tools for end-to-end multimedia workflows, the acclaimed Radio-Assist 8 software suite extends beyond traditional broadcasting by streamlining the preparation and publication of media. Radio-Assist 8 also optimizes the management of associated metadata and linked media and gives instant access to all types of media, archived or online. It then allows items to be previewed and restored for repurposing and distribution. The pairing of Radio-Assist 8 with NETIA Workflow Engine empowers media groups to manage and share video, audio, images, and text throughout their entities, optimizing the overall life cycle of their content.
The NETIA Workflow Engine is an open system that choreographs, visually represents, and then executes processes or workflows to provide a faster and more direct interface between Radio-Assist 8 and other applications. In managing these interfaces, the NETIA Workflow Engine increases performance of tasks such as transcoding, audio extraction, speech-to-text transcription, archiving, and publishing in a transparent, highly automated process. In publishing, for example, the NETIA Workflow Engine can automatically deliver content from Radio-Assist to the right distribution platforms (Internet, VOD, mobile services, and IPTV) in the right formats, all at the press of a button. Likewise, the system can automate the movement of audio and video between Radio-Assist 8 and HSM (hierarchical storage management) systems; automate the sharing of push/pull content between different sites or platforms; or automate the ingest of incoming content from other sources and partners.
Together, Radio-Assist 8 and NETIA Workflow Engine linked with the company's popular ManreoTM Asset Management System offer users a wider range of capabilities in managing and distributing a variety of content. In addition to simplifying media management across workflow tasks, the higher level of automation enabled by the NETIA Workflow Engine reduces the potential for error and improves facilities' ability to manage and process larger volumes of content at any given time. As part of its media management features it also monitors content, and informs administrators of content errors as necessary with security alarms and notifications.
New Radio-Assist Module Debuts at NAB!
CLARET, France - April 7, 2010 - NETIA today announced the release of CamDirector, a new module that brings direct camera control and automated video switching to the company's Radio-AssistTM 8 suite of digital audio automation software. CamDirector will be shown for the first time at The NABShow 2010. Using automatic voice detection, CamDirector enables complete automation of the production of in-studio interviews, shows or any special on-set events by triggering the switching of cameras according to the speaker and mic currently in use. Radio broadcasters can create live feeds or recorded programs for repurposing to multiple broadcast, streaming, podcast and mobile platforms.
"Radio listeners - and younger audiences, in particular - increasingly demand the ability to 'visualize' what's going on in a studio while a program or special interview is on air," said Christophe Carniel, CEO and president at NETIA. "CamDirector provides greater sophistication than a single still camera without requiring the investment and resources typically required for more complex multicamera program recording. With this simple, cost-effective means of creating video content that complements their on-air offerings, broadcasters can easily expand the type and quality of content they offer to today's media consumers."
The automation of switching processes through NETIA's Radio-Assist 8 software suite enables radio broadcasters to maximize the value of interviews and other events for distribution to multiple platforms, while minimizing the associated burden on station staff.
CamDirector operates within existing installed Radio Assist automation systems and does not require an additional dedicated IT infrastructure, database or server.
The CamDirector module allows cameras installed in a radio facility to be controlled directly from NETIA's Radio-Assist 8. Positioned to capture each speaker participating in the program, individual cameras within the studio are triggered by CamDirector as associated voice-activated microphones pick up speakers' voices. When a host or guest begins to speak, the software automatically switches the feed to that person's mic and camera.
Flexible configuration options within CamDirector are complemented by a variety of preset parameters. To give the production a more authentic look and dynamic feel, users can take advantage of a built-in scene-creation program that lends even greater fluidity and interest to the video and dialog. For example, the program can be set so that after two minutes, a particular camera will zoom to wider angle, or zoom in. These tools give the broadcaster a variety of choices in defining how cameras and mics are used to create video pieces.
The Radio-Assist 8 range of digital audio automation software is equipped with a broad range of tools for end-to-end multimedia workflows. This acclaimed software suite extends beyond traditional broadcasting by streamlining the preparation and publication of media, as well as the management of associated metadata and linked media. Radio-Assist 8 gives instant access to all types of media, archived or online. Regardless of the storage medium, items can be previewed and restored for repurposing and distribution, both for broadcasting and for multi-platform distribution. CLARET, France - May 5, 2010 - NETIA today announced that it has provided Orange, the key brand of leading telecommunications operator France Telecom, with a content management system (CMS) designed to support Telco operators' end-to-end media management and distribution needs. Built on NETIA's versatile ManreoTM media asset management (MAM) system, the CMS will enable Orange to store, manage, and distribute content to any service provider or multimedia platform.
"Manreo allows for a very flexible workflow management that is designed graphically and is easily configurable. It also allows us to manage metadata at several levels which fits our needs perfectly," said Pierre Louis Pipitone, head of department, Major Projects TV. CLARET, France - Aug. 31, 2010 - NETIA today announced that RFO (Réseau France Outre-mer, or France Overseas Network), part of the France Television Group, has signed an agreement engaging NETIA to develop a new IP Mosaic system along with a custom system for synchronization of audio and video content across servers at multiple sites. The new IP Mosaic system created by NETIA will allow RFO staff in Paris to view, all at once and on a single screen, the complete flow of video from each of RFO's nine production sites, located in Guadeloupe, French Guyana, Martinique, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Mayotte, Reunion Island, New Caledonia, Wallis and Futuna, and French Polynesia.
"Over the years, we have built a strong and successful relationship with NETIA, as the company's solutions continue to help us expand our business with intention and intelligence," said Christian Augereau, technical director at RFO. "We are constantly looking for new ways to improve our efficiency across our broadly distributed operations, and it was a natural decision to engage NETIA in further enhancing our media management capabilities. The company excels in meeting the unique demands of our business."
RFO already has integrated NETIA's media asset management (MAM) system with acquisition, production, automation, and storage applications across its Paris headquarters and nine regional centers to store and enrich audio, video, and still images and subsequently facilitate the publishing of content through various delivery platforms. Now, media assets on servers across RFO production sites will be synchronized through automatic replication, and NETIA's software suite will provide staff with the tools to search and browse the content stored on these multiple servers.
NETIA MAM manages storage, consultation, indexing, segmenting, and repurposing of content, referencing all types of objects, files, and physical media. Through the system's Web-based interface, authorized users can identify all copies of a given media asset, regardless of version, format, or location, and view them over the Internet in JPEG, GIF, Real, and Windows Media® formats or over an intranet in any format. Even as it centralizes media enterprisewide, the solution also supports the building of media databases according to content type or use.
One of the most advanced television and radio networks in the world, RFO distributes 17 television channels from its head office in Paris to French-speaking territories located tens of thousands of kilometers from one another. The broadcaster's regional production facilities are connected by satellite and ADSL to support the exchange of programs and news (both radio and TV) in real time.
"In building out its production and media-sharing capabilities across numerous sites, RFO has taken a very forward-looking approach to media management," said Yoann Poizeau, product director at NETIA. "The IP Mosaic system extends the company's flexibility in working with assets, despite the distances that separate RFO production sites and media storage systems."

CLARET, France - September 21, 2010 - NETIA today announced that Australia's Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), a public radio and television broadcaster delivering media in 68 different languages, is using NETIA's Radio-AssistTM automation system to publish content to its website simply and cost-effectively. Dedicated to meeting the needs of diverse communities and cultures across Australia, SBS gathers programming from content creators worldwide and uses Radio-Assist to deliver this content online in 50 different languages.
The Radio-AssistTM publishing module provides all the media asset management capabilities required by SBS to manage both media and metadata for accurate, efficient multilingual publication to the Web.
Advances in communication have made it necessary for radio broadcasters to reach listeners wherever they may be. NETIA's Radio-AssistTM offers a smart, straightforward solution for extending broadcast content to the Web using minimal resources. The software goes beyond conventional radio automation to make it easy for journalists and other staff to repurpose content in multiple languages for additional platforms and, in turn, meet SBS's objective of informing, educating, and entertaining all Australians.
The multiple-language programs available through SBS Television, Radio, and Online ensure that all Australians, including the estimated 3 million Australians who speak languages other than English in their homes, are able to share the broadcaster's content. SBS Online delivers world news, current affairs, sport, film, food, and a full range of SBS television and radio programming to a monthly audience of 900,000 people.
SBS has extended features of its current Radio-Assist automation system to interface simply and efficiently with its online service. Within the NETIA solution, SBS has expended the metadata model of its production database to support all the data needed for online publishing of its radio content in multiple languages and unicode scripts. For any program audio clip, staff can associate images and rich metadata content in any language. Online publishing is then completely automated.
"SBS is a clear leader in creating, aggregating, and broadcasting programming that reflects the diverse cultures, experiences, and viewpoints in today's Australian society, and the use of Radio-Assist demonstrates that even the most complex operations spanning language and content aggregation barriers, can realise a streamlined workflow for the multi platform delivery of content. " Said Peter Stavrianos, Manager Broadcast Engineering at SBS.
With the Radio-AssistTM platform acting as a Media Asset Management System, encoding, packaging and movement of the content with its associated metadata to the Web as a multimedia package, is as simple as marking the item with a single mouse click. Repurposing of program content for on demand in multiple languages has never been made so easy and does not require a complex system between Radio-Assist and the web site anymore.
"Large broadcast operations working in multiple languages can face a difficult challenge in repurposing content for a variety of distribution platforms, but with metadata content managed inside the production system itself, multimedia packages can now be sent directly to the web without having to manage the complexity of an intermediate Content Management System" said Benjamin SCHVENT, APAC Operations Manager at NETIA.
